April 3: Senate standing Committee on Information asks government to set up hotline for journalists with threats to lives and come up with ‘uniform compensation’ policy.
 
April 5: TTP launches website – www.umarmedia.com – as its spokesman Shahidullah Shahid asks media that no news should go to press or on air about his organization without prior verification giving email address also – umar.media.ttp@gmail.com & shahidullahttp@gmail.com
 
April 6: Hand-grenade attack on residence of Jamshed Baghwan, Express News channel bureau chief. The blast damaged main gate and wall of his residence. He and his family stayed safe. It is the second such attack since March 19, 2014.
 
April 8: Taliban website taken down 24 hours after it was launched. April 10: KhyberPakhtunkhwa police sets up hotline to facilitate local media-practioners.
 
April 12: Ansar Abbasi, senior Islamabad-based journalist working with The News, received a mail from ‘Khaki Power’ ID warning the journalist to “behave yourself and weigh the pros and cons of your words.” The journalist informed the Federal Investigation Agency to proceed against the sender of the mail.
 
April 19: Hamid Mir is attacked in Karachi minutes after reaching from Islamabad. He received three bullets and was operated upon to retrieve the bullets. Brother Amir Mir accused the ISI chief, Lt.-Gen. Zaheerul Islam, of masterminding the attack on Hamid Mir.
 
April 22: Government moves to PEMRA to seek ban on Geo News for airing claim that ISI planned attack on Hamid Mir in Karachi on April 19.
 
April 22:Veteran journalist Izharul Hasan Burney dies in Karachi.
 
April 22:Journalist Shahzad Iqbal, 28, shot dead in Mianwali district of Punjab province. Cause of murder is said to be “family feud.”
 
April 23: PEMRA serves notice on Geo News giving May 6 deadline to reply after the ISI and Defence Ministry complained to the regulatory authority.
 
April 24: Hamid Mir issues public statement still holding the ISI responsible for attack on him.
 
April 24:Journalist Imdad Ali arrested and taken to unknown place after throwing shoe at brother of PM Nawaz Sharif in Lahore.
 
April 28: Three-memebr judicial commission probing attack on Hamid Mir in Karachi on April 19 has begun its work.
