Aug 11: Unknown burglars broke into house of journalist Nayyar Waheed Rawat, working for Capital TV channel, in Tarnol police station’s jurisdiction. The journalist and his family remained safe, however. Rawat said he filed story about kidnappers and he believed they may be involved in the burglary attempt.

Aug 23: Abdul Sattar Niazi, local journalist in tehsil Gujar Khan in Punjab province and working for Islamabad-based Metro Watch, faced hours-long harassment and “blackmailing” in a police station to force written declaration through him that he “would never again write or post against lawyers.” The application against him by lawyers following his posting of an image showing lawyers encroaching on government land.
