The Islamabad-based media watchdog is inviting applications from interesting candidates for the following position:

Position Title: Administrative Officer
Status: Open

2. Objectives of the Role

The Administrative Officer will provide effective administrative support to the organization, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. This position is crucial in maintaining an organized, professional, and supportive environment for staff and beneficiaries.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support:
    • Manage office supplies, equipment, and inventory.
    • Organize and maintain filing systems (physical and digital) to ensure efficient document management.
    • Coordinate meetings, workshops, and conferences, including venue booking, logistics, and catering arrangements.
    • Draft, edit, and proofread correspondence, reports, and other documents as required.
    • Provide general administrative support to the team, including arranging travel, accommodation, and scheduling.
  • Office Management:
    • Oversee office facilities, ensuring they are well-maintained, clean, and functional.
    • Supervise the performance of any office support staff or services (e.g., cleaners, security).
    • Implement and maintain office procedures and policies for the smooth operation of the office.
    • Ensure timely payment of bills (e.g., utilities, internet services) and coordinate with the finance team for necessary payments.
  • Human Resources Support:
    • Assist in the recruitment process by scheduling interviews, preparing candidate materials, and communicating with applicants.
    • Maintain up-to-date employee records, including leave balances, personal details, and other relevant documents.
    • Support staff in submitting leave requests, medical claims, and other HR-related matters.
  • Logistical and Event Coordination:
    • Coordinate logistics for project activities, workshops, training, and events.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during events and activities.
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and tracking expenses for events and activities.
  • Financial Administration:
    • Support the finance team in managing petty cash and office expenses.
    • Ensure accurate record-keeping of receipts, invoices, and other financial documents.
    • Assist with preparation of financial reports related to office activities and events.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

4. Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in an administrative or office management role, preferably in a non-profit organization.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing office operations and logistics.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other office software.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • High attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Desirable Attributes:
    • Knowledge of NGO operations, including project management and donor requirements.
    • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the organization.
    • Fluency in Urdu and English.

5. Working Conditions

  • Location: Islamabad
  • Travel Requirements: Some travel may be required for events or project coordination.
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00AM–5:00PM, with the flexibility to work outside regular hours when required for events.

Job Title: Safety Hub Coordinator

Status: CLOSED

Location: Muzaffarabad – Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The Safety Hub Coordinator will be responsible for managing the functional mandates of FN-established platforms Pakistan Journalists Safety Fund (PJSF) and Pakistan Journalists Safety Coalition (PJSC) in the region in your jurisdiction under this position as Safety Hub Coordinator. This will include, among other things, emergency assistance to journalists in distress, monitoring and documenting threats and attacks against journalists and media workers; verifying information based on methodologies provided by FN and liaising with stakeholders inclduing journalists, press clubs, unions of journalists and other relevant stakeholders including media associations and government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor cases of violations against media and its practitioners in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) region
  • Formally document the violation cases in the FN database as per the procedure provided and training to be given on monitoring, tracking and documenting cases
  • In serious cases of violations against media and its practitioners, help journalists apply for assistance through Pakistan Journalists Safety Fund (PJSF) by ensuring its informational and verification requirements
  • Liasise on behalf of FN with relevant media stakeholders inclduing press clubs, journalists’ unions, legislators and media supporters, where required and when requested
  • Help improve the public profile of Freedom Network and PJSF in your region

Qualifications

  • Must be a journalist with at least three years of experience in practical journalism
  • Must be a member of press club or regional union of journalists in AJK
  • Minimum graduate and maximun master in a relevant field (e.g., Public Administration, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Journalism etc.)

Position Overview

Freedom Network is seeking a Safety Hub Coordinator to liaise with safety hubs across Pakistan to monitor and document threats against journalists. The Safety Hub coordinator will be responsible for daily review of threat cases received from safety hubs and other sources and reported to Freedom Network for prompt action to save lives and do advocacy to engage all stakeholders for policy and legal framework to address challenges media and its practitioners are facing. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent understanding of safety and security challenges media and its practitioners are facing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will coordinate among safety hub coordinators for threat monitoing & documemntation
  • Will coordinate among safety hub coordinators to assist journalists at risk
  • Will liaise among safety hub coordinators and FN program team
  • Will guide safety hub ccordinators and FN program team on changing threat environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Administration, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Journalism etc.).
  • Minimum of three years of experience in coordination
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong reporting skills in English and Urdu.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong inter-personnel communication

2 Job Title: Safety Coordinator

Job description:

Safety coordinator will coordinate internal and external communication of Freedom Network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will coordinate with safety hub coordinators for PJSF cases
  • Will review PJSF assistanmce cases before forwarding to Steering Committee
  • Will keep record of PJSF cases
  • Will spearhead PJSF process until completion
  • Will coordinate with safety hub coordinators and follow up on the threat cases
  • Will keep records of FN publications and dissimante publications
  • Will monitor FN SoMe accounts
  • Will monitor newspapers – both online and offline – on daily basis
  • Will follow FN Editorial Guidelines while creating any content for FN SoME accounts
  • Any other tasks assigned by FN

Qualifications

  • Minimum graduate and maximum master in a relevant field (e.g., Public Administration, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Journalism etc.).

Experience:

At least three years’ experience in internal and external communication and coordination
