Aug 02: Islamabad High Court Bar Association bans Jang Group and Geo News channel on its premises for allegation that the group and the channel are “causing damage to Kashmir cause.”
Aug 04: Supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf staged protest demonstration outside head offices of Jang Group publication houses dailies Jang, The News and Geo News channel.
Aug 05: Federal Investigation Agency registered a case under Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) against journalist Jabbar Umrani, working for Waqt News channel in Naseerabad district of Balochistan, after he posted on social media against a police official who lodged complained to the FIA.
Aug 05: Ghulam Rasool Barfat, working for Sind Express newspaper in Jamshoro district in Sindh province is reporting missing as crackdown is underway against Sindhi nationalists.
Aug 05: Sudhir Chaudhry, senior journalist working with BOL News channel, was attacked during live show from Liberty Market in Lahore. Pakistan Muslim League (N) workers were alleged to have attacked the journalist for his critical opinion about the party.
Aug 06: PEMRA serves notice on ARY News after Shakir Younas Abbasi, reporter of 24 News channel, moves the electronic media regulatory authority with charges of “character assassination” by showing him during a live press conference in Islamabad on August 2.
Aug 09: Badal Nohani, secretary-general of Jamshoro Press Club, is taken away from the press club by masked persons arrived in unregistered vehicles.
Aug 10: BOL News channel’s journalists Safdar Klasra and his two female colleagues – Ms Naila Afsar and Ms Benazir Mehdi – harassed and attacked during former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s Islamabad-Lahore journey in Faizabad area of Rawalpindi district.
Aug 11: Police in Gujrat district of Punjab province stopped and attacked Islamabad-based photographer Sheraz Gardezi covering former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s Islamabad-Lahore journey.
Aug 11: Unknown burglars broke into house of journalist Nayyar Waheed Rawat, working for Capital TV channel, in Tarnol police station’s jurisdiction. The journalist and his family remained safe, however. Rawat said he filed story about kidnappers and he believed they may be involved in the burglary attempt.
Aug 11: The workers of Pakistan Muslim League (N) allegedly attacked ARY News channel’s DSNG van in Gujranwala district of Punjab province during the coverage of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s Islamabad-Lahore journey.

Aug 22: Punjab Police chief Capt (Retd) Arif Nawaz ordered ban on making videos and still images inside police station and other police installations across the province. Journalist community decried the move.
Aug 23: Abdul Sattar Niazi, local journalist in tehsil Gujar Khan in Punjab province and working for Islamabad-based Metro Watch, faced hours-long harassment and “blackmailing” in a police station to force written declaration through him that he “would never again write or post against lawyers.” The application against him by lawyers following his posting of an image showing lawyers encroaching on government land.
